Maybe you could help me here , I am trying to connect my great great grandmother her name is Quirina Saldivar Gomez to Vicente de Zaldivar in Zacatecas . Quirina's father was Juan Jose Saldivar . I believe that his father was from Saltillo , Coahuila from there I don't have anymore info . I have read that one of Vicente's son's came to Saltillo , I just don't know when .

my maternal Porras clan. They left Hidalgo del Parral,
Chihuahua maybe 75 years ago to open a branch of
Pastas Porras in Nuevo Leon.

I've seen newspaper clippings of them, whiter than
white!
Have you heard of them?

I don't think you are understanding. Right now there is a group for
Jalisco on Rootsweb. Right now there is a group for Zacatecas on
Rootsweb. Right now there is a group for Aguascalientes on Rootsweb. Why
was it necessary to build "Ranchos" and then "Nuestros Ranchos" since
these groups were already in existence? In fact Ernie why did you join
"Nuestros Ranchos" since these groups were already in existence?????

I think many members of the group agree with the idea of trying to keep
"Nuestros Ranchos" for those that are serious about their genealogy. So
then why the statement about satisfying "Joseph"? It's not about
satisfying joseph it is about being serious about your research or at
least "lifting your finger" the smallest bit to imitate someone who is
serious about their research.

Also think about my "joke" of a definition of being serious:

1) agree to do your own research

2) demonstrate that by sending in a representative tree showing your
connection to Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or Aguascalientes. BUT if you are
just beginning and have NOTHING to submit then submit a sample of your
family's Oral History that indicates you have a connection to Jalisco,
Zacatecas, and/or Aguascalientes.

The above two requirements are all it takes to become a life member of
the Nuestros Ranchos group. To meet those two requirements requires just
the smallest bit of effort and about 10 minutes of time. Imagine this
scenario. The laziest genealogist in the world wants to be a member of
Nuestros Ranchos because he/she doesn't want to "lift a finger" to do a
bit of work in searching for their own roots. . .no they would much
rather find others to do the work and "prey" on those that do all the
hard work and when they find one that has tapped into one of the
branches of their tree they swoop in and gather all the information
saying thanks as they build and build and build on their genealogy
having done none of the work. *[rofs] Anyway to be a member for life
would require just opening up an email to moderator@nuestrosranchos.org
and just writing down the names of their grandparents and telling where
they were from also maybe tossing in a "guessed" date of birth and
matrimony. Now imagine that you find a person that is just not willing
to even do that or even to email the moderator and ask for an extension
because sending in that 10 minute email is just too laborious of a task
to accomplish during the holidays. Well let me tell you what, if they
are unwilling to even contact me or unmotivated to write a 10 minute
email then they don't fit into this absurd definition of a "serious
researcher."

Do me a favor and drop the phrase "satisfy Joseph" it offends me.

I'm trying my hardest to keep this group from becoming another Rootsweb.
. .because if it does become another Rootsweb then there is no reason
for it to exist. And believe me to drop the requirements for membership
will mean becoming just like Rootsweb.

I would like to invite every member who wants Nuestros Ranchos to be
like Rootsweb to just unsubscribe themselves and participate more on

in doing research you must check death certificates for places of birth. Do you have the death certificate for Juan Jose Saldivar or a baptism? What documents do you have Quirina Saldivar Gomez and what do the documents say?

First off , Thanks for the help . #1. I haven't checked on the death certificates or baptisms but I will . #2. I have the marraige certificate of Candelario Alvarado and Quirina Saldivar dated Oct. 26, 1844 married in the church of Villa de Santiago , Nuevo Leon .

In the marriage certificate it shows Juan Jose Saldivar and Maria Ygnacia Gomez as the parents of Quirina . Juan and Maria were married on Sept. 25, 1817 . I don't have the origen of the marraige .

Here is what I have :
Quirina Saldivar Gomez : parents are Juan Jose Saldivar Rodriguez de Montemayor y Ayala and Maria Ygnacia Gomez Alanis

Juan Jose Saldivar's parents : Jose Gregorio Saldivar Garza and Juana Maria Rodriguez de Montemayor y Ayala Silva

Jose Gregorios parents : Agustin Saldivar Garza and Ana Josefa Rodriguez de Montemayor ( married Feb. 6, 1732 )

Agustin Saldivars parents : Juan Saldivar and Ysabel de la Garza Montemayor
In still searching and trying to connect the Zaldivars or Saldivars to the ones in Zacatecas .

I don't know Vicente and Ursula's children. Check Israel Cavazos books on Protocolos of Monterrey for wills. That is where I found Agustin's. You can get Cavazos books from Borderlands Books. THere is a CD out also. ALso your library copies are available interlibrary loan.
My money is on Agustin.

Wow Yeaaaaaa wowowwowowowow

The first set of Saldivars is listed my great great grandmother Quirina ( not Quilina ) and the rest of them are siblings . What a Christmas present Esther and Juan Zaldivar is the one that is married to Ysabel de la Garza , I don't have the wedding date as of yet .

The film is from what period , town . I will order it today I'm helping out a couple of Mormons with some genealogy stuff .

Welester, boy do I know that feeling when we connect after a long search.. Every time I see someone in the group share so openly and with documentation I see again why I belong to this group. Some of us take a little longer to gather info but let there be a need, and this group is there for you.. Hola Welester: Congratulations on your new findings, with the wonderful assistance from Esther. I share your joy. Your ancestors are there for you to find them.

I had been searching for my Robles line for about 5 years, and...nada...then I posted the information to the group. Emilie, from Port Orchard, WA., found the missing link. Within a few months I was able to trace them back to 1704. This is wonderful...being so grateful to the two ladies for these random acts of kindness.
Again, I share you joy.

Seeing as I am descended from Agustin also that makes us distant cousins. The Marriage investigation on Diego Ayala and Margarita Zaldivar documents the whole ancestry of Vicente Zaldivar, Margarita's father.
You should get the 2 volume work from Borderland Books. Also the CD on THe works of Israel Cavazos on Protocolos of Monterrey. I recently purchased the CD but I don't think all the protocolos
are on it. I think there might be more in his books.

Howdy Esther ,

I met Israel a few weeks back at a book signing for Elio J. Bottello his book title : VIDA Y GENEALOGIA DE LOS BOTTELLO he's a nice man , getting on with his years but his wife seems to also be very much into the genealogy . Interesting book , talks about how some of the Bottellos' changed thier name from Carvajal de la Cueva to Bottello during the inquisition . It also mentions some surnames like Cerda , Lozano and Morton .

I will look into the books you mentioned cuz ;-)

The film with Quirina Zaldivar's baptism is 0605464 covers 1797 - 1825 Santiago, NL.

THe early records for Monterrey have been extracted many times. I checked up to 1700 and did not see a marriage record for any Zaldivar. THey must have married in Santiago.

I checked Hilton and it says that Vicente Zaldivar brother of Agustin was married to Izaguierre in 1667 inMonterrey.
