    "Here it is, it's R1b1b2, marker M269..
Anyone in Nuestros Ranchos with these markers??

    Alicia"

    Alicia,
I have the same markers as above. Unfortunately, they are very common markers in Europe and have not helped me much in my Serros genealogy quest. My extended family is from the Northern Jalisco/Southern Zacatecas area, an area they left in ~1916. Sadly for the purpose of genealogy, the Serros/Cerros line appears to be an illegitimate line so I can only go back so far in this particular line.
I agree that the markers suggest a Basque lineage; I did not say prove a Basque lineage. Clearly, as I search the 1600 and 1700 records of Mezquitic, Jalisco and Valparaiso, Zacatecas, I find surnames that are Basque in origin. My reading sources state that the Basques (and Germans) were brought over for their knowledge in mining. One of the largest silver mines in our area was of course Bolaños. In the mid and late 1700's the mines of this town made many locals and investors very wealthy.

    Cerros

    Hi Robert:

Your e-mail to Ed caught my eye because my mother was "Cerros" from
Minillas de Jerez, Zacatecas. I have contacted the officials in Jerez and
was told that there is no such place named Minillas de Jerez, that there
were a few places called Minillas, but were abandoned as the minerals in the
    area were mined out.

Her father, Preciliano Cerros was married to Apolonia Gonzalez, probably in
the early 1900's, since my mother was born in 1906. He was born in Panuco
Zacatecas, where the Cerros held mining interests. I believe they came from
a place called "Lanestosa" in Northern Spain, just sout-east of Santander.
My Grandfather Preciliano worked in the mines and could have been a native
Zacatecan and taken the "Cerros" name from the mine owners. I have only
been able to trace his ancestry back 3 generations.

I had my MtDNA analyzed and it came back as "A2 Native American" I found
two other people who matched my mother's DNA in Coalcoman, Michoacan, they
are Gonzalez Mendoza. My mother was Francisca Cerros Gonzalez.

I researched the place called Minillas, South of Zacatecas (city) I looked
for records in the nearby towns and did not find any "Cerros" at all.

    Lanestosa

Lanestosa is in an area called Las Encartaciones in Vizcaya, País Vasco. Santander is in Cantabria, which borders Vizcaya. The Wikipedia article on Las Encartaciones is very interesting.

    Cerros

    Hello John Gonzalez,

I see what just happen here. There are two Robert's going on at the same time. I'm sorry everyone.
To make thing clear. I am Robert with R1B1 P25+.  Next time, I better include my last name. LOL

As for Minnillas. I understand there are many and wide spreaded. But I do recall crosssing that name Cerros.
But not at Jerez. Is this possible that your mother was from Minillas ARROYO DEL CARRIZO,  Zacatecas instead?

    Sorry again,

    Robert Ramirez P25+ LOL

    Cerros

    for Robert P25+

Thank you for the tip, I'll see what I can find from Minillas Arroyo del
Carrizo. The article mentions that there are only 3 people living there,
    probably in just one house.

    Coalcoman, Michoacan

    Hi John:

Your message caught my attention. Are you in contact with the people who matched your mother's DNA in Coalcoman, Michoacan ?? My parents were born and raised there, and there is a chance that I am related to them.
